Guam Fried Rice - Review by Adam
Made the recipe as written except we only used 3/4 lb of bacon (since it's hard to find actual full pound packages of bacon anymore) and 5 cups of rice. Still, while the flavor was OK, this is by far the oiliest fried rice I've ever had. Next time I'll probably drain the bacon grease (!) and use a bit of canola or peanut oil instead.
Simmer a pork shoulder roast in a slow cooker for 10 hours with a ginger-spiked sauce for tender and tasty shredded Hawaiian-style pork.
This is considered the Philippine national dish. The combination of soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, ginger and peppercorns is delicious and actually preserves the chicken! Great for picnics. My mother taught me how to cook this, using her variation from the original recipe. A delicious, cheap and easy dish! Serve it hot with hot steamed Jasmine rice.
Sliced sirloin is marinated in soy sauce spiced with red pepper and garlic, then stir-fried with broccoli, onion, water chestnuts and peanuts.
An easy slow cooker recipe with soy sauce, garlic, and onion. Do not be put off by the vinegar -- it tenderizes the chicken and loses its potent flavor in the cooking.
I'm not sure if it's chili, or stew, or a shepherd's pie without the crust, but there is nothing like it over some toast on a cold night. Rich and hearty, just downright yummy.
